MY GOD WHAT HAVE I FOUND XD
I'm not sorry for having you know this exists XD
Ariel never gave up a voice for a man she has just met and hadn't talked to.
Ariel gave up her voice because she didn't value it. And she didn't value it because people around her didn't value it. They praised it when she used it for show, for singing for an audience that wanted to hear the sound but never listened to her words.
She felt unheard her entire life, misunderstood, alone, isolated. Sure, she has friends, like Flounder, Sebastian and more in the animated series, like Gabriella, her sisters, Urkin, etc. They all loved her but didn't understand her. Looked at her funny when she opened up about her love for the human world. Was even berated by some, like Sebastian and her father. She never felt heard. So, yeah, for everyone else, even the audience, is like: this girl is so stupid, she gave up her beautiful voice for legs.
Because with legs, she can stand, as she always wanted. And she never needed her voice to make Eric fall for her, or the castle's staff, with her personality, always overshadowed by her voice, she won everyone's hearts. With her blubby, spontaneous, happy, curious personality, she made the prince fall for her, made him forget that 'beautiful voice' he fell for (until Ursula put a spell on him, that is). Ariel felt heard for the first time, without a voice.
She didn't give up her voice for a man, but because she was so tired of not being heard, that she never saw the value of her voice, because nobody showed it to her beyond shallow reasons. She learnt, along with everyone else, how important her voice AND words are.
That's why I always felt related to her. I was always heard when it was convenient, if I expressed an opinion the adults around didn't like, I was shut down, belittled and patronized.
Your voice MATTER, will always MATTER. It doesn't matter how way you communicate. Look at Gabriella, in the animated series, she was mute but she still communicated and was heard by her octopus friend.
Please, NEVER let anyone make you believe your WORDS hold no value. Not even yourself.
My brother's girlfriend had HPV, so he went to get himself the HPV vaccine. There is a fee to pay (nothing much, something like €87) but it's completely free if you're in one of the "at risk" groups.
"What does that mean," he asks.
"It's free if you're gay," he's told.
"Ah. Would I have to like, prove it, or...?"
"Just put in a check mark here."
My brother is in no way, shape or form attracted to men, but also he's stingy as it gets. So now he's officially gay. Congrats bro.
"Doctor, give it to me straight"
"You sure, there's a fee"
"… Give it to me gay"
AGAB (Assigned Gay At Billing)
Fascinated by the fact that his first question was about if he'd have to prove it. I wanna know how far that man would go to save less than a dollar
Sorry, do you think 87 euros is less than a dollar
I've seen a few people talk about it, so I wanted to say - if your character uses they/them in Baldur's Gate 3 and an NPC uses a gendered term for you, please submit a bug report! That is a flag that is being misapplied, and it can be fixed. There are thousands of pronoun cases in every playthrough, and a few are bound to be incorrect, so let Larian know.
But also be polite to QA in your form. They're busting their ass 24/7 to provide fixes.
I don’t know what data BG3 sends/Larian QA receives with a bug report, but if you’re wondering how you can word things to help in a bug report in general (this goes for this bug & any others you may encounter), solid info you can add includes:
- Your character’s race, pronouns & class
- Location in which the bug occurred
- The NPC you were speaking to & the dialogue option selected (if you remember!)
- What quest you were on/progressing, if relevant
- Steps to Recreate/Step-by-Step of what happened, if possible (ie “NB Tiefling Paladin on Quest QUESTNAMEHERE -> talked to QUESTNPC -> Chose [PALADIN] PALADINDIALOG -> Received binary gendered response”)
The more detail you can provide, the easier it is for QA to narrow down where the bug, incorrect flag, etc is. Always be kind in your reports! Probably goes without saying, but QA is hard and stuff falls thru the cracks.
You can see a pretty full record of past dialog!!
Discovered last night that theres a tab in the map/questlog pages to view dialog records (includes rolls and success/fail) so you can see the dialogue you heard and the choice you selected there if your memory isn't great!
According to Know Your Meme, on August 18th, 2005, Erwin Beekveld brought forth this work into the world. HAPPY TEN YEAR ANNIVERSARY, THEY’RE TAKING THE HOBBITS TO ISENGARD.
sheds a single tear
every august 18th my notifications break and i go, fuck, tumblr has failed me once again, but it hasn’t. it hasn’t failed me. it’s just the taking the hobbits to isengard-iversary. happy 12 years

I regret to inform everyone that @catchaspark’s reblog was made in 2017 and that Taking the Hobbits to Isengard was actually published 17 years ago, not 12 years ago.
Happy 18 years!
Something insanity inducing about jester and veth trying to comfort caleb after the vergessen heist by telling him that the people he killed were bad people, they were evil, they obviously deserved it, we're the good guys, he had to do it, he had to do it for the greater good, the chosen few made the hard choice and do what few have the will to do—
no!! this is missing the point!! jester and veth's unshakeable belief in ontologically, metaphysically, essentially good and bad people as discrete categories is one of their biggest blindspots and it is a MISTAKE. if you believe you are somehow inherently a good person then you never have to think critically about your actions or beliefs because you already know you are good!! and if you can dismiss people as always-already Bad then you never have to address the root causes or your own biases. caleb's whole backstory is about being someone who really and truly knows they are good, they know what bad guys look like, and, armed with that belief, can securely and happily serve a nationalistic project of incredible violence and extrajudicial murder
A new mode of production arises out of the newly networked masses.
Because shockingly when people enjoy what they do (you make it enjoyable instead of just hammering on them) people WANT to do things!
Where is the button to shout this from the rooftop?
You know how it is then, folks!
MANUAL BLAZE MODE GO
….am I allowed to say “whovians, grab your TARDISes?” You know how it is.
